PHOTO LONDON: Omar Mattar LONDON POINT
I understand that each participant was assigned a photographic project during the trip to Photo London. Do you think you applied a personal vision for the assigned project?
Yes, it was possible. I was able to incorporate my personal perspective into the project, which enriched both the process and the result.
The photobook “LONDON POINT” is the result of the Photo London 2024 trip organized by Long Distance Photo Expeditions and Roberto Mata School of Photography. It is part of a collection of seven photobooks created by each of the participants during the photographic journey to London in May 2024. The course was led by Julio Estrada and Ricardo Peña, with the books designed by Claudia Leal. Participating photographers: Carlos Anllo, Michel Catalan, Aránzazu González, Omar Mattar, Dámaris Rodríguez, Yuraima Rodríguez, and María Elena Velasco.
To make the project, did you give more importance to the individual images or to the group of images that you wanted to make?
I focused on working on a group of images to create a framework that would tell the desired story in a coherent and meaningful way.

Do you think working with a project in mind is beneficial for the photographic process?
Yes, Without a doubt.
And if so, what advantages or positive characteristics were you able to recognize?
I am very grateful for that initiative, which allowed each of us to know where we directed our work, develop a strong narrative, stay focused on a clear objective, and appreciate in greater detail the specific elements that we wanted to highlight.
